Accessing funding or support services

The team at Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs can support you to secure available funding for anyone eligible for one the following federal schemes:

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS),
  • My Aged Care
  • Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

This includes funding for your Seeing Eye Dog, training, accommodation and other associated costs to implement the first 12 months of your partnership. Once your training program is confirmed, the cost of any required travel, accommodation and meals will be covered as needed during training.

If you are not eligible for the funding schemes listed, we can look at allocating a Seeing Eye Dog through an alternative funding source.

What expenses would I need to cover if I matched with a Seeing Eye Dog?

When you have completed training with your Seeing Eye Dog, you will be supplied with all necessary dog equipment, but you will be responsible for the ongoing cost of feeding and caring for your dog. Your Seeing Eye Dog will need regular vet check ups, with a report to be sent to your instructor.
